Six Sentence Sunday August already!

Almost didn't make SSS this week...Oy, it's been a bad few days, but things are looking up :) Here is another little taste of Stone-Hard Passion, and please do take the time to browse all the other excerpts posted by the other wonderful participants!

“Don’t be angry? Don’t fight or be frightened?” Don’t wonder how I’m going to survive without you, now that I’ve grown to love you more than life itself?
“Don’t make this harder than it already is.” His pain matched hers, and exacerbated it. “Do you think I want to leave you, that it isn’t breaking my heart too?”

Six Sentence Sunday

O.M.G. What a week...I'm beyond thrilled at the reception Stone-Hard Passion has received. This is my thirteenth release in all, and having people love my work never, ever gets old. Thank you sooo much to everyone who's bought it and I really hope you've enjoyed it!
Please make sure to browse and comment on as many of the Six Sentence Sunday participating authors' posts as you can. We all appreciate it greatly!
This week, the black moment...or one of them anyway!

He’d first known he was falling in love with her when he realized she made him feel normal—not a troll, but just a regular being. The fall was completed when he realized she made him feel not just normal but like a normal man. It was something he’d never experienced before—never expected to experience. Now he’d come to crave it more than food, than water. The knowledge that she saw him, liked him, desired him, made him complete.
And he was on the verge of losing her, the end of this ideal moment of life coming at him as swiftly as the edge of the meadow and the cliff beyond.

Six Sentence Sunday

Thanks for stopping by! I'm super excited, because this week brings the release of Stone-Hard Passion. Sexy, hot troll coming your way, so I hope y'all are ready for him. Please make sure to stop by some of the other participating blogs (the list is here) and seeing what deliciousness the talented, wonderful authors have come up with for us this week!

As for Vidar, he's finally getting a taste of Jasmina...and is discovering she just might be addictive...

But he wanted to go as slowly as he could, savor every second of this amazing, once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.
So he traced her eyebrows, cheeks and jaw with one finger. Jasmina moaned softly, tilted her head back, exposing her throat. So he touched that too, licking his lips as the silken flesh stretched taut and sweet beneath his fingers. When he pressed his mouth to the same spot, licking and sucking gently, her entire body arched, shuddering, and she gasped his name.
Now he couldn’t take his mouth away.

Six Sentence Sunday

Today we're continuing to take a peek into Stone-Hard Passion's heroine Jasmina's slow, and somewhat unorthodox seduction of the hero Vidar... Please take a little time to browse the other participating author's Six Sentence Sunday posts, and thank you for stopping by!

For a moment he didn’t move. His gaze bored into hers, sharp as ice shards, making it an effort to keep the smile on her face. Crossing his arms, Vidar shrugged. “I never really considered it.”
Probably not, since it would mean taking off his pants for her to tattoo his ass, something this reticent man wouldn’t have thought of for himself. No, he would definitely need a nudge to show her his butt, and she was just the jinn to supply it.

Six Sentence Sunday

I had planned last week to start posting excerpts from my up-coming release, Stone-Hard Passion, but decided instead to give one last snippet from Fleeing Fate, which was released on July 3rd. It's been a great week, as the Pricked series of books launched and I buzzed around other author's blogs promoing and enjoying talking with readers. But this week I'm looking ahead, and want to introduce you to Vidar Jarlsen and Jasmina Elalmadhoun, troll and jinn, respectively. In this snippet, their journey into each other's arms is just about to begin, but only one of them has any clue that's the direction they're heading!

Please make sure to stop by all the other amazing contributors to SSS this week by browsing the list here.

Startled, she automatically fell into step beside him, glancing up at him from the corner of her eye. He was looking straight ahead, as though there was nothing unusual about the fact they were holding hands. This from the man who couldn’t look her in the eye for longer than a couple of seconds when he first came to the Café to inquire about getting his tats.
She suppressed a giggle, amused at her surprise. They’d known each other for two years and she was shocked that he’d actually loosened up enough to hold hands with her…as a friend? Perhaps, if she were patient enough, in another ten she could get him into bed.

Happy SSS (and Canada Day!)

By the time most of you are reading this, I will have officially become a Canadian citizen! I was tickled to be invited to take the Oath on Canada Day, and it doesn't hurt that this week Fleeing Fate will be released too. Despite the ups and downs, the sadness and pain, life is GOOD.

I'd planned to start teasing my visitors with some snippets from my second release for July Stone-Hard Passion, but in honor of Fleeing Fate's release, here's one more glimpse into the tumultuous relationship between storm god Jakuta and his banshee lover.

Heart breaking, body strained and taut with arousal, he kissed his way back up her body, lingering, committing each curve and swell to memory, pulling the sea-washed scent of her deep into his lungs. She had gone still, as though knowing what he was doing, what was about to happen, but her breath shuddered and rasped, her hands trembled.
When they were face-to-face he found her eyes open, trained on his, her lips quivering, tears trailing down her temples to dampen her hair. Her legs came around his waist and she released her grip on his head so as to twine her arms around his neck. The tip of his cock found her heat with flawless, heartbreaking precision.
There was no need for words, for anything but the connection crackling and streaming between them.

Six Sentence Sunday Fleeing Fate

I can't believe this is already the last Sunday in June! Or that Fleeing Fate, book one in the Unveiled Seductions series and the first of the Pricked series books from Ellora's Cave, will be released in less that two weeks!! I'm so excited I can hardly wait.
This week, a glimpse of Jakuta's heartbreak...

“Your goddess watch over you, sweetness.”
He couldn’t manage any more than that and Gràinne didn’t seem to have anything to say in response. After a brief hesitation, she raised one hand in farewell and disappeared in a swirl of powerful magic.
He’d known, he reminded himself, that if she were once more whole, complete, with all emotions intact, what she felt for him would fade.
The knowledge didn’t ease the agony tearing at his heart. Blind, deafened by the enormity of his loss, Jakuta transported himself away from the Midnight Café, not sure he would ever be able to return.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome! Please make sure to visit all the other wonderful authors participating in Six Sentence Sunday this week. Browse the list here and please do comment. We all love to know what our readers think!

This week, although passion's running high between Jakuta and Grainne, the past is about to catch up with them...

Kissing his way up her body, Jakuta sent sparks into her skin with each impression of lips on belly, sternum, each breast, creating sharp aftershocks of pleasure.

As though released by the force of her orgasm, memories began scrolling through her mind, slowly at first then with gathering speed, each bringing with it the attendant emotions she hadn’t felt when the events first occurred. Soon the images came so swiftly they left just an impression on her closed eyelids. But her reactions lingered, piling one atop the other, growing, expanding—overwhelming. Happiness, revulsion, sadness, surprise, disgust, amusement—bombarding her until she was going insane from the onslaught.

Pain racketed through her head and she clutched her hair, trying to make it stop.

And I hope you'll check out the excerpt for Fleeing Fate, available here, and the book is available for pre-order from Ellora's Cave here. Happy Sunday everyone!

Sunday Six...more Fleeing Fate

Welcome to my little corner of Six Sentence Sunday! Please make sure you visit all the other wonderful participants, the list of whom is here.

Again this week I'm featuring a snippet of Fleeing Fate, my fantasy novella being released by Ellora's Cave on July 4, 2012, and already available for pre-order. Jakuta, the storm god, already knows Grainne, the banshee, is going cause him no end of trouble. She's about to realize the trouble will be mutual. Hope you enjoy it!

His eyelids drifted down to reveal their thick, curling lashes, and the corners of his mouth tilted up in a slow, sexy smile. When he touched her cheek a jolt of electricity almost knocked Gràinne off her feet. “Or maybe something about the two of us, together.”

Rocked back onto her heels, she could only stare into his sparkling, dangerous eyes and absorb the sensation flowing into her skin. With a soft sweep of one caressing finger he traced the line of her jaw, lingered just below her ear. Lifting one hand she grasped his wrist and, as though a circuit had been completed, felt a surge of confusion and anticipation fill her with liquid fire, setting her ablaze from the inside out.

The Week Ahead

Ahhh…Monday morning. What does the week hold for me? I have no clue, except that it will no doubt involve trying to rescue my shoes from an inquisitive, teething puppy (who right now seems sure there is gold to be found behind my back, if she could just dig hard enough to find it) and hopefully getting more done on my WIP, tentatively titled Luck is No Lady. When I started it I didn’t think it would run as long as it is, but hopefully that’s a good thing, rather than the alternative.

It’s the third book aimed at being a part of my Unveiled Seductions series but, of course, whether it makes it into Ellora’s Cave will be in the hands of my editor, the inimitable Grace Bradley. These books are set on the faie side of the Veil separating humans from what we call the supernatural beings. Of course, as far as the elves, vamps, gods, banshees, jinn, trolls and others living in the faie realm are concerned, we’re just another specie, who just don’t have access to both areas of the world like they do.

The first two books, Fleeing Fate and Stone-Hard Passion (don't you LOVE the covers?), being also part of the Pricked series of tattoo themed books, are already up for pre-order on the EC site! During the month of June I’ll be posting snippets of Fleeing Fate during Six Sentence Sunday, prior to its release on July 4th. In July I’ll post snippets of Stone-Hard Passion, which is scheduled for release on July 27th (the day before my birthday...happy birthday indeed!). In August I’m thinking it’ll be Luck is No Lady, but it’s a book with a serious twist, and I’m not sure how much I can post without giving that away! We’ll see LOL!

So, here’s hoping for everyone out there a safe and productive week! Or a really nice vacation…

Six Sentence Sunday!

Woof...I missed a few weeks because I've had the 'pleasure' of having to work more hours and, honestly, I've been exhausted! The early morning shifts (anywhere from 5 to 6am) are the hardest because they completely mess up my body clock. Anyway, despite having another this morning, here I am. Thank goodness for the ability to pre-set the post time!!

I'm happy to announce that Arctic Destiny, my paranormal, multicultural novella has been accepted by Ellora's Cave for publication! So, in honor of that, here are the first, unedited, six sentences of that novella. Hope you enjoy it, and please stop by the other wonderful authors on the list at Six Sentence Sunday.

“My God, Finn…”

Her scent was what registered first. A hint of vanilla, mixed with a light floral note that always made him think of sunshine. The sound of her voice only added to the agony, and he squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to look, to confirm she was just another figment of his imagination.

The others’ constant, almost unintelligible chiding was bad enough. Right now the thought of seeing her, only to lose her again, was more than he could bear.

XXX Six Sentence Sunday!

This week my newest release, What the Mistress Did, came out from Samhain Publishing and I'm really excited.  I've had a couple of very nice reviews for it (one here) and am all set to work on the sequel during NaNoWriMo which both scares and excites me. It's been a few years since I participated in National Novel Writing Month and I know it's gonna be a haul. This is the busiest time of year for one of my day jobs (yeah, I have two LOL!) and I'm going to have to push to make it, but it'll be fun and productive, so I'm in. Lady Marianne Gillingham has further adventures to take part in, believe me!

This week, I'm giving you another little snippet of What the Mistress Did, and it's XXX, like most of the book. Hope you enjoy it, and please drop by some of the other participants in this week's Six Sentence Sunday.

Marianne is having an encounter with her lover, David, while his wife Annabelle watches from hiding.

Stepping to the side, I align myself so as to see his profile and tickle the crop over his arse. “Take your cock in your hand,” I command. “Stroke it. But do not spend, or I will send you away  immediately.”
David groans but does not hesitate, and as his fingers encircle the engorged flesh, I commence the flogging.
Oh, how the sheer carnality of it fires my blood.

Six Sentence Sunday!

Wow, this week has flown by. I was battling the after-effects of a bad cold and fighting with the end of Arctic Destiny, which just wasn't meeting my expectations. I think I have it sorted out now, and hope to have it out the door by the end of the weekend :) In honor of that achievement, I thought I'd share a little more of this story. My CP describes Finn as one of my "tortured" heroes and one way of torturing a man is to show him the love of his life and then make her beyond his reach. I so evil...
Make sure to check out some of the other fabulous offerings through the Six Sentence Sunday website, and have a great week!

There was nothing he wanted more than to surround her, hold her as close as he could and never let her go. The enormity of those feelings, the sheer devastating power of them, made it hard to breathe.

Tasha stirred slightly. “You okay?”

He realized he had wrapped his arms around her, was squeezing far too tightly, and loosened his hold. “How could I not be, having you here like this?”

Six Sentence Sunday!

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday! This week I thought I’d give you a little taste of my short story, Rescue My Heart, which can be found in the Steamlust: Steampunk Erotic Romance anthology, being released on October 11th. I was so very pleased that a reviewer at Publisher’s Weekly called my story “powerful.” While I don’t usually read reviews, I was glad I clicked through to that one!
I hope you enjoy this snippet and make sure to check out all the other great Sixes posted by the talented authors.
In this scene Beatrix, Duchess of Palisadoes, has been granted her dearest wish, under the very worst of circumstances.

I am lost, as though broken from the tether of my life and floating away—a casualty of a hurricane-force wind. Not even the now-vague memory of Hardwick’s presence can lessen my pleasure at being surrounded by the touch and scent of the two people I love best. Lust is the physical manifestation, the only one I dare express, but my heart sings to have received this one chance to experience their attentions.
Forcing myself to break away is the hardest action I have ever taken, but if I do not I will forget all in their arms, and my plan will go awry.
Pulling back, I look across at Hardwick. His gloating, lascivious stare causes a chill to trickle down my spine.

Six Sentence Sunday!

Yeah! Time for Six Sentence Sunday once again and, since this week saw the release of Beyond Prudence, here’s another snippet to whet your appetite! Thanks once more to the ladies of SSS and make sure to drop by and check out the other participants.

“I dream,” he continued, his voice a low rasp of desire, “of you above me, taking me, your hair a curtain between us and the world.”
The air stilled in her throat, her entire body trembling at the thought of having him beneath her, at her mercy.
“Would…?” She paused, licked her suddenly dry lips, and tried once more to speak. “Would you truly like that?”
Will shuddered, nodded, eyes flashing in that special way she’d come to recognize and, in one of the greatest understatements of her entire life, Prudence whispered in return, “I think I would like that too.”

Yeah for release day hangovers!

Release day for Beyond Prudence was such fun...seeing the book come out, sneaking peeks at Twitter and blogs when the boss wasn't looking, wishing I could be home to do happy dances. Thanks again to Passionate Reads and Lynne Silver for hosting me, and all the Tweeting etc. that ensued.

Tuesday will be better, since I'll be home late morning to do the rounds of all the blogs I'll be visiting. Hope to see you all there! And next Friday I'll have my first blog guest, THE Daisy Harris whose next book, Studenstein, will be released. She'll be here to talk about the world of her steins and give us a sneak peek of the book.

See you all tomorrow for Six Sentence Sunday!

Six Sentence Sunday!

Welcome to my corner of Six Sentence Sunday! I'm getting to the end of my WIP, tentatively called Arctic Curse (although I think I prefer Arctic Light, and either would work). It's paranormal, set in Manitoba, near the town of Churchill, which is known as the polar bear capital of the world. It's just after midnight here in London, Ontario, and I'm posting this before I go to bed, because later this morning I'm going to my first ever Powwow! I'm very excited, and hope to have some pictures to share.

In this six sentence snippet the heroine, Tasha, is re-learning what it means to have the hero, Finn, back in her life. I hope you enjoy it!

“Shh, sweetheart,” he whispered, his hands trailing slowly over her hips and thighs. “Let me take care of you.”
Shudders chased over her skin and she yearned to cry out again, demand satisfaction, but when he played the game this way it was even more thrilling, so she forced her body to stillness. Yet, even knowing what was happening, the wave of longing his words inspired was still a little shocking. Only with him was she content to let him do whatever he wanted to her body. Only he could demand she be quiescent and passive, tied down and helpless—his love slave—and make her crazy with need.

Six Sentence Sunday!

This week I got the release date for my Steampunk romp, Beyond Prudence, which is now posted on the Ellora's Cave coming soon page, so I thought I'd share a snippet! This week's six gives a hint of poor Will Foreman's state of mind after his first encounter with Prudence Hastings. Please enjoy my offering for Six Sentence Sunday!

Good Lord, his state of undress was the least of his problems.
He’d strapped Viscount Murchbanks’ daughter to an erotic machine, took liberties with her person and then spent all over her. He’d be lucky just to be shot for his temerity. Since the Black Years when so many, rich and poor alike, had perished, the gentry had been even more obsessed with reserving their women for men of like status. If the viscount ever learned that his daughter had been cavorting with a man like him, all hell would break loose.
But it was all that blasted woman’s fault—not that it made the outcome any different.

I MADE IT...!

Through the week, that is, and what a week it was! I put my Dad back on the plane for Florida :(, got my release date for Beyond Prudence (September 9th, o_O!), had scads of family hanging around and just today got a sneak peek at cover goodness, which, unfortunately, I can't share yet! :D
I'm such a tease...
I also have a date to look forward to with my husband tomorrow, so we can celebrate our anniversary. (Love you honey!)
But for now I'm here alone at home (looks around, wide-eyed, and listens to the blissful quiet) working on a little sump'n/sump'n and just enjoying this sensation of being all by myself, which is something I need like a cat needs a human to boss around and haven't had in, oh, about a month!!
So, I'm going back to work, savoring the P&Q and gearing up for the weekend. I'll be putting together a blog tour to promote Beyond Prudence, and posting a snippet for Six Sentence Sunday this week.
I'm so excited!!

Six Sentence Sunday!

It's time for Six Sentence Sunday again, and I thought I'd continue to give a little taste of how Claire and Xavier's relationship develops in Breaking Free.

Xavier Westbourne would be a gentle lover, she thought, until passion overcame him. Then perhaps the beast dwelling in all men would come alive, taking over and driving him to roughness, releasing him from control, throwing them both towards and over the edge of passionate madness. She licked her parched lips, and was rewarded with a sound emanating from deep in his throat—the sound of the beast stirring. With another shiver, a delicious spasm of expectation suffused her entire body.
“Perhaps I shall, Mr. Westbourne.”
She pitched her voice only high enough to reach him, seeing him exhale, as though he had been holding his breath.
