Yeah, Sunday, Sunday

I'm so pleased to be back again with the Six Sentence Sunday gang of amazing writers. Please make sure to check out the other author's websites. The list is here. Browse and enjoy!

This month I'm planning to feature snippets from Fleeing Fate, my paranormal romance, which is part of the Pricked, tattoo themed series from Ellora's Cave and also the first book in my Unveiled Seductions series. It's available for pre-order, and I'm soooo excited about the entire series.

In this excerpt, Jakuta, a banished West African storm god, sees Grainne for the first time. He knows nothing about her except that she's trouble with a capital "T". Hope you enjoy it!

She did nothing to call attention to herself. In fact she moved with the milling crowd as though a part of it, skirting the edges of groups, seeming on the verge of joining first one and then another without actually doing so.

Yet somehow he knew she wasn’t there to celebrate with the happy couple. The ribbons of white-hot electricity zapping along his tribal marks, burning across his face, belly and back, told him so. And an insistent rumble of lust in his blood, slowly rising to a booming crescendo as he tracked her path toward Ula’s desk, reinforced it.

The urge to go downstairs immediately, get closer so as to see her face and hear her voice, was overwhelming but he couldn’t seem to make his body move.

Six Sentence Sunday!

Yeah! Time for Six Sentence Sunday once again and, since this week saw the release of Beyond Prudence, here’s another snippet to whet your appetite! Thanks once more to the ladies of SSS and make sure to drop by and check out the other participants.

“I dream,” he continued, his voice a low rasp of desire, “of you above me, taking me, your hair a curtain between us and the world.”
The air stilled in her throat, her entire body trembling at the thought of having him beneath her, at her mercy.
“Would…?” She paused, licked her suddenly dry lips, and tried once more to speak. “Would you truly like that?”
Will shuddered, nodded, eyes flashing in that special way she’d come to recognize and, in one of the greatest understatements of her entire life, Prudence whispered in return, “I think I would like that too.”

Rock On, E-Publishing

It’s an exciting time to be affiliated with a really good e-publishing firm. The world is changing, and publishing too is in the midst of a massive overhaul. Business as usual just isn’t cutting it anymore, and smart people are actively looking for new ways to publish and deliver books to the people who want them. I may be biased, but to me e-publishing, and companies like Samhain, are not just the wave of the future, they’re the wave of NOW.

I still have to put up with people saying things like, “Soon you’ll really be published,” although I’ve had the pleasure of two releases. It’s just ignorance, so I stifle my annoyance and tell them that I already am published, and leave it at that. Then I read an article like this one, in Time Magazine on-line, and realise irrespective of those views, I’m probably on the right track. Sure, it would be nice to be able to say I have a NY contract with Avon, or Berkley, or one of the traditional publishing houses. But there is a part of me that would rather not deal with issues like massive returns and bogus sales numbers.

Besides, there is news like Lorelei James topping the movers and shakers list at Kindle, which makes us romance writers know the readers are out there, and they’re following the trends. Instead of a book in every hand, how about an “E-reader in Every Hand” campaign?

And for all you readers interested in what the most popular books were at Samhain this past year, the best covers, etc. make sure you join us for the Sammie Awards! It’s gonna be a blast!
