SciFi Question:

Are you a closet Trekkie? Dr. Who-ite?

Cara:
I like Star Trek, the original and the Next Generation TV shows and the movies, but I don’t consider myself to be a Trekkie. I do think that the original Star Trek TV show was quite bold in dealing with social issues of the day.

Cynthia:
I’m very open about my love of Star Trek. My entire Operation Erotic series is devoted to my fervent love of Data from The Next Generation (grins). I’ve only been to one Star Trek convention however and I’m ashamed to say I wasn’t in costume. My Klingon is very weak also (Worf!!! Woof!). I love Star Wars! Han Solo was my first movie boyfriend. I chirped like R2-D2 for months after seeing the first movie, driving my dear wonderful mom insane. Dr. Who was my first taste of Sci-Fi and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

A.M. Griffin:
Trekki for sure. I don’t watch the old Captain Kirk ones, I like Captain Picard. I think I’ve seen every episode numerous times, but just to make sure I never miss an opportunity to watch one. Captain Picard has a certain authority about him. It might be that tight suit, his bald head, his accent or jus the way he says “Engage”. Whew!

Lolita:
Dr Who. All the way! Some nights, I'll click onto Netflix or Amazon's Instant Video and just stream episode after episode while I write. I'm a huge, HUGE fan of the Shakespeare episode where Dr. Who takes Martha Jones back to Elizabethan England. There's this witch running loose, only she's actually an alien, and….I'm rambling. Anywho. Fantastic show!

Lolita Lopez Bio:

I'm just your everyday dirty-book-writing mama. I live in Texas with my Viking throwback husband and a mischievous preschooler. Loving Dangerously, Book Three

Jess hates aliens. After the invasion that destroyed Earth, the extraterrestrial bastards sold her to a brothel as a sex slave. She may have escaped but the old memories and fears still linger in the dark corners of her mind. Supposedly Sonis is just the place for her—somewhere safe, where she can heal and start fresh. She’s almost hopeful…until she meets Rasha, her new boss.

Rasha, captain of the Sonis Royal Guard, is a warrior through and through. He’s huge, sinfully sexy and could have any woman on Sonis—but the woman he wants is Jess. He’s very much an alien and Jess knows she should hate him or at least be wary, but whenever he’s around, she loses control. She tells herself it’s only sex—amazing, mind-blowing sex like nothing else she’s ever experienced—but there’s something about Rasha that shakes her soul. The feel of his skin against hers, the look in his eyes as he touches her—they make her want to believe it’s possible to find love and begin again.

Release Day-- He Watches Me by Cynthia Sax

I'm so excited for Cynthia Sax today--it's release day for He Watches Me, Book One of The Seen Trilogy! I've been waiting for this day and haunting Chapters/Indigo's website, waiting for it to appear. I. Can't. Wait. To. Read. This. Book. There's a sexy excerpt here, on a previous post, for those of you who want a little taste of the goodies awaiting in this book. And now I'll turn the 'floor' over to Cynthia.

She’s Got A Friend

Cynthia Sax

Although we often focus on heroes and heroines in our stories, they don’t live in isolation. These characters have family, co-workers and friends, just like everyone else does (I consider Anya to be a dear buddy of mine – she’s a friend any woman would be lucky to have).
Of the three, I find friends to be the most indicative of a character’s personality. A heroine can’t choose her family but she can choose her friends.
Or she can choose not to have friends. Maybe she moves around a lot or she’s scared of being hurt or she has a dangerous secret a best friend would be certain to uncover (because we all know how best friends are – grins).
In the case of Anna, the heroine of He Watches Me, it is all three. Anna is running from her past. A beloved family member made a bad decision and this decision has haunted her, causing her to be judged, rejected, hurt. Anna moves across the country to L.A., seeking a fresh start, hoping to escape her undeserved reputation.
Anna is lonely and she desperately wants friends but she knows, in order to keep her past a secret, she’ll have to lie to them. She’s not a good liar and she’s uncomfortable with not telling the truth. Anna also knows when her new friends find out the truth about her, they’ll reject her. Then she’ll have to move again, leaving them behind.
She decides it’s best for everyone including herself if she avoids making friends, if she stays invisible, fading into the background. She goes to work, does her job quietly, eating lunch alone, and goes directly home, to an empty house. She is so disconnected with the outside world, she doesn’t even have a phone.
This is a great plan in theory. In reality, it doesn’t work. Camille aka Goth girl decides Anna will be her new friend. She sits beside her at work. She eats lunch with her. She defends her when co-workers tease her. She decides she likes Anna.
Anna, however, knows Camille doesn’t truly know her. When Camille finds out the truth, she’ll reject her. The smart response would be to reject Camille first, before Anna cares too much, before Camille can inflict more pain. Anna can’t do this. She knows how hurtful rejection is.
Anna now has a friend she desperately wants yet shouldn’t have. Pain is coming… for all of them. Anna simply doesn’t know when. Until this day arrives, she’ll enjoy Camille’s company, knowing how precious friendship is.
What do you love about your best friend? How long have you known her or him?

Excerpt

I pick up the towel and I pad to the edge of the pool, my flip-flops bending the grass as I walk. I pause and look around me, having the peculiar feeling someone is watching me.

I see nothing. Blaine’s mansion is outlined against the indigo sky. The moon hangs full and low, its light reflecting off the glass in the windows. The water ripples, tempting me.

I spread the towel on a nearby lounge chair, my body warming with excitement, this small act of rebellion keeping me sane during days of monotony. I kick off my flip-flops and I wiggle my toes, the stone cool and hard against my soles.

I pull my camisole over my head, the action freeing my hair from the ponytail. Yet another elastic band is lost in the grass. I drop the worn garment on the stone, planning to retrieve it later. My nipples tighten, the breeze caressing my bare skin, its touch lighter than my fingers, the only touch my breasts have known.

I’m a virgin priestess honoring the night. I arch my spine and cup my small breasts, offering them to the stars. They twinkle their approval above me. Maybe on a distant planet an alien is gazing down on the Earth, watching me, wanting me, small breasts being desirable in his culture. This fantasy excites me. I swipe my thumbs over my taut flesh and tremble at the sensations flowing over my body.

My pussy moistens. I shimmy out of my bleached white boy shorts and leave them in a puddle around my bare feet, enjoying the decadence of being naked in Gabriel Blaine’s backyard, a creature of nature, wild and free.

I face the pool and my pale body reflects in the surface, my form slim and supple. My breasts are small, slight ivory curves tipped with tight pink nipples, and my private hair is full, untrimmed and untamed. Both are frowned upon in L.A., the land of waxing and silicone, and I normally conceal my unpopular silhouette under layers of clothing.

Not that anyone looks at me, which is a good thing … I suppose. I’ve been ignored and I’ve been ridiculed. Long ago I decided being invisible was preferable. Michael Cooke, the charity’s resident hottie, might walk past me as though I was a piece of office furniture, but at least I never see disgust in his sea-blue eyes.

Now, I’m free to be hairy, flat-chested Anna Sampson. No one is here except me and the stars and—I glance upward—perhaps a horny alien. I extend my arms, bend my knees and dive into the water. I shoot across the pool, undulating, cool liquid streaming over my shoulders, breast, thighs, ass.
I curve upward and break the surface. I gasp and then laugh, unable to contain the joy bubbling within me. The stresses of a job I want yet can’t do, student loans I don’t know how I’ll ever pay back, and a life lived alone rolls off my shoulders.

I tread water with my feet and the waves lap at my breasts, slapping against my nipples, escalating my reckless need. I’ve never had sex, but that’s due to being distrustful of other people, not because of lack of passion. I burn. I need. Constantly. I run my right hand over my chest, across my flat stomach and between my legs, seeking relief.

I stroke my folds, brushing my fingertips over my clit, bobbing to the rhythm of my hand, adding my juices to the moisture surrounding me. I picture Michael with his shaggy blond hair, broad shoulders, and tight khaki-clad ass, imagining his blue-eyed gaze fixed on me and only me. I envision a giant purple alien watching me masturbate, his humanoid body naked, his cock overly large and extremely hard. And for some unknown reason, I conjure up piercing green eyes in a too-rawboned-to-be-handsome tanned face, a wayward lock of black hair falling forward.

“Gabriel Blaine.” I try out the technology billionaire’s name, my voice husky and low. “Blaine,” I repeat, liking the sound. I’m in his backyard, in his pool. It is only right I honor him with my impending orgasm. I work my pussy harder and harder, passion coiling around my chest, squeezing the air from my lungs, making it difficult to breathe.

Will he suck my breasts with that sternly-set mouth of his? I pinch my nipples, the pain sharpening my pleasure. Take me doggy-style in his big limousine, pounding into me hard and fast? I pull at my untamed private curls. Because he can’t wait to find a bed? I ruthlessly ravish my pussy, rubbing and writhing. Rivulets of liquid streak down my cheeks and into my panting mouth, my wet hair plastered to my face.

In my fantasies I’m not ignored. I’m a femme fatale, a woman no man can resist, a woman guys fight for, come to blows over. I reach deeper inside me, stretching me open with one, two, three fingers, savoring the fullness.

As I pump my pussy, the sensation of being watched intensifies. Instead of dousing the flames of desire, this fuels the heat between my thighs.

I tremble and shake. “Yes, Blaine,” I cry out, the waves surround me growing rough, my body tossed on a sea of sweet turbulence. “Yes.”

I thrust hard, slam the heel of my hand against my clit, throw back my head and scream. The darkness bursts with color and light. The stars spin around my head. My pussy clenches down on emptiness. I kick my legs, pushing my body out of the water. Droplets dapple and glisten on my skin.

My breathing steadies, the water flattens once more, and I still, my form loose and relaxed, my passion temporarily sated. I float lazily on my back and gaze up at the full moon, wishing I could take care of the other problems in my life as easily as I soothe my desires. “That was wonderful.” The words echo in the silence.

“I agree,” a deep voice drawls.

Monday morning comes too soon

This weekend has flown past, and I'm unhappy about that. There were a bunch of things I wanted to achieve but didn't...ah, well, I'm know for overscheduling myself anyway! The coming week will be fairly quiet around here, except for reminders of where I'll be otherwise on the net.

Tomorrow will find me being interviewed at SJ Drum's site. She's one of my fellow Pricked authors and her book, Sinful Southern Ink, has gotten some really nice buzz around the internet. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should!

Wednesday I'm at the inimitable Cassandra Carr's blog, talking about mixing genres and the dastardly Plot Monkeys taking over my life. (Ooooo, Wednesday is also the day the amazing and awesome Cynthia Sax's Pricked novel, Tattooed Tryst is released! I'll remind you, if you forget and just wanted to say, "Go, Cynthia!!")

Thursday I'll be posting an exclusive excerpt (short, but I promise hot!) from Stone-Hard Passion, just because I'm so freaking excited that it's less than two weeks before release day! And I'm a tease, what can I say? :D

Not sure what's in store for Foodie Friday, but you can be sure there'll be something. I've had quite a bit of interest in it, and have a couple more authors interested in guest blogging, as well as some ideas of my own.

So, hope to see you all around the web this week, and hope every day is a good one!

Monday Morning...sort of

I know the calendar says it's Monday, but it doesn't really feel like it, and I'm not complaining! It's still Canada Day...well the official day off for it anyway, so I'm keeping on my PJs a little longer (at least until I take Sable for a walk) and relaxing before I get back to my WIP. The kids will be all here for a BBQ later, but that's the only thing planned. How lovely!
This week marks the release of the Pricked series from Ellora's Cave, and I get to lead off the tattoo hotness with Fleeing Fate! Today I'm blogging at Long and Short Reviews, Wednesday I'll be at the awesome Sidney Bristol's blog and on Friday I welcome S.J. Drum, who'll be guest blogging for Foodie Friday.
I'm really excited about both the Pricked releases and my on-going Unveiled Seductions series. I *squeed* like a pre-pubescent girl last week when the Final-final version of Stone-Hard Passion came in from my editor.
On June 26th we already got a sneak preview of Cynthia Sax's Pricked release, Tattooed Tryst, and over the next few weeks there'll be other authors dropping by to tell us about their up-coming books. It'll be awesome, so make sure to check back!

Promo: Tattooed Tryst, Coming Soon from Cynthia Sax!

Welcome to Cynthia Sax, whose contribution to the Pricked series, Tattooed Tryst will be released on July 18, 2012. It sounds AWESOME, and is now available to pre-order here. Visit Cynthia's website for information on all of her amazing books. Take it away, Cynthia!

While we’re waiting for Anya’s fabulous Fleeing Fate to release (July 4th – don’t forget, we’ll be setting off fireworks to remind you), I thought we’d talk aliens. Yep, aliens. Anya writes about storm gods and banshees. I write about aliens.
Why?
Because I truly believe we’re not alone. Not only that, but I believe some of these aliens are already here on Earth. Come on. Don’t laugh. You’ve seen them. The hunky guy at the coffee shop putting six sugars in his coffee? Alien. That tiny blonde woman who wears her sunglasses inside buildings, claiming her eyes are ‘sensitive’? Alien. That new co-worker who has no family or friends and never ever talks about herself? Yep, alien.
It isn’t a crazy notion. It is simple math. Look at all of the stars in the night sky. Do you truly believe Earth is the only populated planet? And if these other species have the intelligence to travel through space, you know they must have the intelligence to blend in.
The Orogones in Tattooed Tryst are one such species. They are the chameleons of space. They take the forms of the species they visit, learning the language and customs, becoming one of us.
But they aren’t one of us. They have knowledge and abilities no humans have. Thankfully, they’re here on a peaceful mission, to monitor alien activity on Earth, sending the aliens who have overstayed their welcome home.
Eventually all aliens return home so it’d be foolish to fall in love with an alien. Lori, the heroine of Tattooed Tryst, finds this out the sexy way.

When a tattooed stranger strides into the diner and gazes at Lori with his flame-infused eyes, she realizes he’s someone special. Something special.

There are tall, gorgeous aliens hidden among us, aliens armed with big guns and burning kisses, aliens taking what they want and whom they want, melting resistance with firm lips and rough, calloused touches. Aliens with fascinating tattoos…

Trake takes one look at the waitress serving up coffee and sultry smiles and knows she’ll be his. With military precision, he begins his passionate assault, using every weapon in his sexual arsenal to seduce Lori. Time is limited. He leaves Earth in nine days and his human mate can’t make the difficult journey. This is his sole chance at the ecstasy of bonding.

He will not fail.

Looking back, and ahead

Last week wasn’t a very good one. I learned my brother is quite ill, and it threw me for a loop. I think there’s nothing like those moments to bring life into perspective. What do the people you care for truly mean to you? How important are those squabbles, disagreements and differences of opinion? Not very, right?
It also makes me really think about what I want to be doing with my life at this stage. Life is capricious. How important is what I want to do? How much am I willing to give up to be able to do it? Is my quality of life what I want it to be? These are some serious questions and can’t be properly considered when emotions are too high. Those are the times I go a little nuts and make decisions that turn out to be not in everyone’s best interests.
I'm also seriously missing my critique partner Amy Ruttan, who's gone across country to a wedding. I so hope she's having a great time with her DH and kidlets, but I can't wait to have her back!
With everything that’s happening, I still have to find time to promo and get ready for the release of Fleeing Fate, which is just a week and a half away! I love this book, and hope everyone else will too. Storm god! Banshee! Shenanigans (which is one of my favorite words—ever)! What else could anyone want? Oh, hot sex too? Got yah covered baybee!
I also got around to creating an author page on Facebook. I’d love for you to stop by and give me a little “Like” love. You can find it here. I’ve also been on Twitter for a while, but I’m getting a little more active, so if you’d like to keep up with what I’m up to, my handle is @AnyaRwrites.
On Tuesday I have special guest Cynthia Sax stopping by to give us all a sneak peek of her Pricked release, Tattooed Tryst. This woman writes some hot, delicious aliens…I can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on that book when it’s released on July 18th!
On Thursday we’ll be getting a look at an anthology featuring the amazing Cassandra Carr, Cristal Ryder and Jamie Davenport! I can tell you, it’s hot, hot, hot…
Hope you’ll join us all, and have a great week.
